The Saratoga Springs History Museum presents OUR SONGS REMEMBER: A program by Nulhegan Abenaki tradition bearers Jesse and Joseph Bruchac. Music and traditional tales drawn from the rich indigenous history of our Saratoga Region, including Abenaki, Mohican, and Haudenosaunee stories and songs. Presented in tandem with the History Museum's newest exhibit, First Saratogians: The Indigenous Peoples of the Saratoga Springs Region.

About Our Presenters:
Joseph (Joe) Bruchac – Executive Director, Ndakinna Education Center. Poet Laureate of Saratoga Springs.
Joe Bruchac lives in the Adirondack mountain foothills town of Greenfield Center, New York, in the same house where his maternal grandparents raised him. Much of his writing draws on that land and his Abenaki ancestry. He holds a B.A. from Cornell University, an M.A. in Literature and Creative Writing from Syracuse and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the Union Institute of Ohio. Jesse Bruchac – Language Director, Ndakinna Education Center
Jesse Bowman Bruchac has been a guest performer and instructor at the Ndakinna Education Center for over 20 years. He brings with him many skills close to their core mission, including Native American storytelling, music, and teaching the Abenaki language, as well as teaching wilderness survival classes. He is an accomplished musician with several albums of Native flute, drum and rattle music. Jesse has worked as a composer for the operetta "The Purchase of Manhattan," as a translator for the AMC series Turn: Washington's Spies and for Alanis Obomsawin short film When All the Leaves Are Gone, and as translator, dialect/dialogue coach and composer for the National Geographic film Saints & Strangers.
